1916 Tour of Glasnevin Cemetery

To continue our school’s programme of activities to mark the 1916 Centenary, our 4th year students visited Glasnevin Cemetery last week, a place steeped in history of the 1916 Easter Rising.

The students were given a guided tour of the cemetery and visited the graves of many who participated in Ireland’s fight for independence, including Parnell, Maude Gonne MacBride, Daniel O’Connell, Éamon DeValera, Michael Collins and the Countess Markievicz.

After that we took a trip to The Pearse Museum and St. Enda’s Park in Rathfarnham, the home and school of Patrick Pearse.
