It was an early rise for 21 of our 4th year students who travelled from Dublin to Birmingham on Monday, 27 April 2015. From Birmingham, the students enjoyed a scenic bus journey leading all the way to Alton Towers in the county of Staffordshire. Alton Towers boasts many rides and roller coasters for thrillseekers and even has a water park on site.
A favourite among the students was The Smiler roller coaster which is the world’s first 14 looping roller coaster and holds the record for the most inversion on any roller coaster! Other rides that topped their lists included Nemesis, Air and Oblivion. The water flumes were also popular although not with vice-principal Richard Whelans who got soaked sitting in the front of the bathtub boat! The beautiful sunshine and ease of access around the park made it a truly wonderful and memorable 4th year experience.
Many thanks to Orla Ní Shuilleabháin for organising the trip and even stopping to pose with pirates along the way.
