A 21st Century School

At The Institute of Education we continually strive to provide the best learning environment that we can. That’s why we have invested significantly in our school facilities to create a learning atmosphere tailored to the needs of 21st century students.

The school campus now occupies seven large Georgian buildings on Leeson Street in Dublin City Centre. Behind the original Georgian facade sits a state-of-the-art 4-storey extension flooded with natural light. The building comprises of digitally equipped classrooms, spacious study halls and dedicated breakout areas for our students.

In 2020, The Institute of Education invested €2.5 million in new state-of-the-art digital infrastructure, making us Europe’s largest secondary school installation for streamed and recorded e-learning classes.

All 39 of the school’s classrooms are now equipped with cutting-edge video and sound-recording technology, which ensures that we can continue to innovate and deliver the highest-calibre learning experience to all our students.

For students studying the Science subjects at the Institute, our modern science laboratory enables hands-on learning in safety and comfort with the latest equipment and the best teaching methods. Experienced science laboratory technicians are employed to help improve the student’s practical knowledge.

A computer lab is available for use by students to support their research, or for creating technology-based projects. A purpose-designed computer room is also available for all students.

Our modern, fully fitted home economics kitchen contains separate workstations for individual students. Each workstation has a microwave, oven, hob, fridge / freezer, food processor, utensils and storage space. The facilities meet the required HACCP industry standards for food preparation.

During the Summer of 2021, we redesigned and redeveloped our music room. Creating a brand new and unique space for our students to explore and express their musical talents. Our music room is equipped with piano, keyboard and note-board and is also stocked with state-of-the-art multimedia computers to assist in the music technology element of the current syllabus.

Over the Summer of 2021, we created a new and dedicated Art room for our students. It is fill with state of the art facilities to help students express their creativity in a way that suits them best. A bright and spacious art studio is equipped to provide the perfect environment in which students can explore their personal creativity and enjoy their Art classes.

Large, bright study halls are a hallmark of The Institute of Education. Students have the opportunity to study in a completely distraction-free environment, in an atmosphere that is calm and wholly focussed on learning. While compulsory supervised study periods are built into every timetable, students can also avail of additional supervised study on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.
