This month the creative writing class has been focusing on the role of history as a source of inspiration. In our discussions we have picked apart various works and their muses. Varying from The Hunger Games and Roman blood sports to A Song of Ice and Fire and the War of the Roses, the students examined the source material and tried to extract the core ideas that inspired authors.
We tied our discussions to the role of historical events within the knowledge of the intended audiences. This proved particularly fruitful with regard to our look at Hamlet, this year’s examinable play. In the New Year we will be doing an in depth analysis of poetry.
Creative writing class takes place every Monday at 3.30pm in G-3 and all our full-time 4th, 5th and 6th year students are welcome to attend.
3.30 in G-3 on Mondays.
