Our 4th year students visited Glasnevin Cemetery & Museum on Friday 21 September to take part in its Tour Guiding Programme. This unique programme is designed to give students a sense of working in the tourism industry by training them in the fundamental skill of presenting to an audience as a tour guide.
The programme helps to develop student’s research and public speaking skills and gives them confidence in dealing with members of the public.
Students were given an in depth presentation on the golden rules of customer service, as well as the skills that are needed in order to research and deliver a tour.
Our students will put the skills they learnt in to practice later in the year when they revisit the cemetery and present to their class at the grave of one of the many historic figures buried there.
