The popularity of the Model United Nations has soared in recent years at The Institute of Education and this November the school represented Japan, Spain, Saudi Arabia and Turkey at the Rathdown MUN.
Students from 4th, 5th and 6th year attended and as always the topics in the various committees were diverse, ranging from austerity and honour killings to childhood obesity and journalists in conflict zones.
The Model United Nations aims to encourage young people to involve themselves in the issues and problems confronting the world today. It is a great opportunity for students to learn more about international decision making and understand issues that affect the world from a variety of perspectives.
A particular congratulations to 5th year student Caitlin Young, who received a distinguished delegate award for her excellent contribution to the event.
