A big congratulations to 5th year students Aaron Dinesh and Matthew O’Dwyer, who won overall First Place at SciFest at TU Dublin Tallaght last Friday.

Their project entitled Mors a Vita – A study into the antibacterial properties of the basic building blocks of life, saw them develop an antibiotic from amino acids.

Well done also to 4th year students Katarzyna Basinska, Shauna Phelan and Joey Walshe, who won the ‘Making a Difference’ award at the event for their project on Fitbit technology.

Both teams are now through to the National Finals, which will take place in November and we wish them all the very best of luck!

SciFest is an international science fair that aims to inspire secondary students to explore and study science, technology, maths and engineering (STEM).
