Maths Paper 2 (O): Language used was clear and uncomplicated
Comment/ analysis on Maths Paper 2 (ORDINARY Level): Jean Kelly, Maths teacher at The Institute of Education.
A very manageable exam. Weaker students will be relieved and would have found the paper very accessible.
Questions were nicely designed and students were led through them in a structured way. The language used was clear and uncomplicated. There was nothing unexpected.
The appearance of financial maths on Paper 2 shows that, once again, there is a lovely cross-over of topics between the two papers.
The construction asked in Question 6 was one that students would have learnt for the Junior Cert. It was quite surprising that a Leaving Cert construction was not asked.
Question 8 was a nice, manageable, topical question on water usage incorporating percentages, angles, pie charts and financial maths.
